Promote Your Blog on Facebook
I’ve already covered PPC marketing
using Facebook in a previous post, but
now we are going to talk about getting
free traffic from Facebook.  Take note
that when I say “free traffic from
Facebook” I mean free in the monetary
sense.  It will cost you some time, but it
would be foolish not to spend that time
in order to increase your ability to make
good money online.  The traffic you receive from Facebook could hold you over until you are able to rank well in the search engines, but there are some things to be aware of before you do it.

The Initial Set Up

All you need to do to be able to increase traffic and make money from Facebook is to set up a fan page for your website or blog.  This will allow you to funnel traffic from Facebook to your blog.  Setting up a fan page is easy and shouldn’t take you too long to do it.

Picking Your Battles

Certain topics will do extremely well on
Facebook, others will not.  Since
Facebook is a social networking site
people won’t be expecting serious fan
pages.  If you are trying to promote your
paper selling business, it won’t do very
well (unless that
business in Dunder-Mifflen).  If you have a blog about social events, news, gossip, or a hobby, you should do very well for yourself.

Promotion

You have to start somewhere, and unless you have a ton of friends on Facebook with an interest in your page, you will have to do some promotion.  This might mean paying Facebook to advertise your fan page.  This might end up costing you $50 or $100 dollars, but the long term growth will be worth it.  If you are able to generate 50 fans through your expenditures, your fan base will experience a domino effect and you could end up with thousands.

Updates

The only way to really grow your fan page is to make plenty of updates.  This way people will be able to see your posts, like them, and make comments.  You should try to make posts that will inspire people to comments.  When someone makes a comment, their friends are able to see it, and that can lead to a lot of growth.

The Funnel

You will want to provide links to your blog in your updates.  This is how you can generate volume to your site.  If you are doing this solely to make money online, you may be tempted to link directly to your different affiliate programs.  Don’t do this.  This is one of the big Facebook no-no’s and it could get your page banned.

Well that about sums it up for Facebook.  Since it really doesn’t cost anything unless you decide to promote your page, why not give it a shot?  Even if you aren’t a huge Facebook fan, you should still take advantage of the money making opportunity it provides.
