Can Stock Photo is one of the little guys. The do sport a decent Alexa ranking for being much younger than the competition at approximately 14,500, but this is nowhere near Shutterstock or Fotolia. What does this mean? It means that your photos won’t be getting the same amount of exposure that they would with one of the bigger sites. This also means that you have less competition.
Competition
Yes, the site isn’t going to get quite as much traffic as one of the bigger guys, but this doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to sell any images. Many of your big name microstock photographers won’t even touch the smaller sites. Therefore Can Stock Photo only has 20% of the inventory as the bigger sites. This means that people are 5 times more likely to run into one of your photos. After that, it’s up to you. If your work is of high enough quality, you make a sale.
Review Process
Since Can Stock Photo does not get the
same attention the other sites do, their
approval process is much faster. You can
expect a review within a couple of days.
You only have to submit 3 photos as well.
So make sure that they are your best.
Referral
Believe it or not, Can Stock Photo actually has a referral program where you can get paid to refer photographers. They pay out $5 for every 50 photos your referral sells. This doesn’t seem like much, but consider that most sites don’t pay you anything.
