Selling Microstock Photography with Dreamstime
If you are new to the world of microstock photography, Dreamstime might be the best place for you to start making money online with your photos. The reason for this is simple. You don’t need to apply to Dreamstime to be able to post your stock photos. Each photograph is either accepted or declined on an individual basis. This can be a great way to train yourself before you approach the other stock photo agencies. Even though you can apply multiple times at these agencies, they generally have a training period before you are eligible to apply again. So you should make your application count.
Payment Scale
Dreamstime has an interesting payment scale. The payment scale increments with the number of downloads that an image receives. This means that if you have an image that gets a lot of downloads, it will earn more than your images that only get a few. This also means that the longer you images are on the site, the more they will earn you. It’s a pretty sweet deal. You can also earn more if you are exclusive to Dreamstime, but I don’t recommend that. It’s much better to use the other micro stock sites in conjunction with Dreamstime. Review Process
Your photos will have to meet the minimum standards that Dreamstime states. Even though your pictures were accepted to another stock photo agency, that doesn’t mean they will be accepted to Dreamstime. Different stock sites have different editors, and their expectations will differ. You should follow the requirements to the “T”. At Dreamstime the photos you upload must be at least 3 megapixels. It is best if they are larger than that because they can be downloaded at different sizes then.
Referral Program
Another nice thing about Dreamstime is that they still have a referral program for the photographers you are able to send there. Yes, there is a referral link at the bottom of the page , so I hope you do very well. With the referral, you will receive 10% of whatever your referral earns. This can really add up if you are lucky enough to refer a prolific photographer.
