Freelance Work on Elance.com
I recently learned about another
Freelance site, similar to Get a
Freelancer, that seems to be a very
lucrative possibility.  I learned about
Elance.com through a fellow Constant
Content writer’s blog
(http://newtliest.wordpress.com).  You
should check it out.

Elance.com is a well designed internet freelance site that you can really sell your specialized talents.  There are jobs for engineers, web designers, excel gurus, and other highly specialized fields.  There are also jobs for people who want to participate in data entry or even Twitter posts.  The chance that you will find something that you are good at is high.

Getting Started

Even though there are a lot of opportunities on Elance (hundreds of jobs are posted regularly), there is a lot of competition as well.  You might need to undercut your prices when you first start out to develop a loyal client base, then raise them as you become more and more successful.  Many new businesses take this approach to break into a market and it isn’t any different here.

How Much Money

One of the most fun things about Elance is that you can see how successful your competition is at the make money online game.  Elance has a fun little statistic next to a bidder’s name that says how much money they have made in the last six months.  It seems that many people average around $2000, but there are some who are hovering around $60,000.  That’s $120,000 per year.  That is quite an amazing feat for a freelancer.

Referral Program

Ok this is the part where I tell you about their referral program and entice you to sign up under my affiliate ID *wink*.  This is one of the better referral programs on the internet.  If you are able to refer a fellow internet marketer to the program to outsource some writing, you will get paid $50 after they post their first job.  Every job after that, you will make another $5.  So you will earn as long as the person you referred keeps posting jobs.  If you are able to refer someone for a free membership, you will make a dollar.  A paid membership will net you $5.
